7 Wonders of the World
A group of Geography students studied the Seven Wonders of the World.
At the end of that section, the students were asked to list what they considered to be the Seven Wonders of the World. Though there was some disagreement, the following got the most votes:
1. Egypt's Great Pyramids,
2. Taj Mahal,
3. Grand Canyon,
4. Panama Canal,
5. Empire State Building,
6. St. Peter's Basilica,
7. China's Great Wall.
While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student, a quiet girl, hadn't turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The quiet girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many."
The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help."

The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the Seven Wonders of the World are:
1. to touch
2. to taste
3. to see
4. to hear
She hesitated a little, and then,
5. to run
6. to laugh
7. and to love.
It is far too easy for us to look at the exploits of man and refer to them as "wonders" while we overlook all that God has done, regarding them as merely "ordinary."
May you be reminded today of those things which are truly wondrous.

Listen & Obey Only His Voice And Commands
After reading the book of Jeremiah, it really has instilled in me the importance of not only listening to the Lord but obeying Him as well. It is a sad thing how the Lord had topunish Judah and Jerusalem and discipline them by having the Babylonians take them captive into their land and destroying theirs. He had had enough of their idol worship and looking to other gods for their comfort and trust and also for them not listening to Him and obeying His commandments.
The Lord warned them through Jeremiah over and over again how they were not listening to the Lord and worshipping other idols and howHe was sodespisedwith alifestyle that chooses to serve anythingor anyone other than the Living God. They didn't listen or believe Jeremiah, yet the Lord kept giving them warnings trying to spare them of their captivity but with no avail. Their land ended up being destroyed and only a remnant of thepeople of their land wasleft.
We have the prophesies and truths of Jeremiah. The history of what happened to Israel and then how Babylon was one of the richest prosperous cities andnow there is nothing left of it. The Lord prophesied through Jeremiah about their destruction as well. The importance of knowing this and studying the scriptures and history is of such value because it validates the past and the Lord's word and how it has come to pass and gives us a living hope that what He says is truth and will come to pass.
Reading the Old Testament gives us the history of what happened in the past and giving us assurance that God did what He said He would do every time. Then toread the New Testament and the truths that Jeremiah spoke of of the coming Messiah and then to have Jesus come in the flesh in Spirit and inTruth telling us what we must do to be spared and live eternally with Him by believing that He is our salvation, the way the truth the life. Just as Israel had the opportunity to believe in what Jeremiah was saying but chose not to, we have the opportunity to believe in what Jesus tells us in the New Testament. It is our choice.
Why chose not to believe, when we can believe and have not only an abundant life but a life lived in eternity with Him? Studying the word and understanding history validates and brings Jesus to life and gives us the assurance and hope that there is a future for us not of this earth but of another. There is a new Jerusalem to be built for those who believe and choose to trust in our Lord Jesus Christ. Why wait, why wait to experience that hope, joy and truth?
When I did not know enough about the Lord, I asked Him to please reveal Himself to me. I wanted to know Him more. I wanted to live the life He wanted me to live. The bible says, "If you seek me with all of your heart, you will be found by me." I sought Him and He answered. I was led to a church, studied the word, and really learned who Jesus is and what He did for me. I can say thirty-three years later, to follow Jesus has been the greatestdecision of my life. My three grown children know the Lord and I pray that they will pass this heritage of knowing our Lord to their children so they will receive the same blessings not onlyin thislife on earth but also the life to come.

Don't Lose Jesus
In the Bible in the book of Luke is the wonderful story of Jesus' birth. After the birth the Bible speaks of Jesus being lost by His parents, Mary & Joseph, only to be found in the temple. When they found him, He said that He was going about His father's business.
Our pastor Todd talked about what it is like to lose a child. How one could get side tracked and all of a sudden the child is gone. You feel a sense of fear and desperation and are frantic trying to find them. Nothing else matters but to find that missing child. Then when he is found you are so relieved, the anxiety is gone and such joy fills your heart that he is now safely with you.
Then he spoke about our busyness, especially at Christmas time, shopping for presents, all the festivities, opening the presents, cooking, all of the gatherings. He then asked the question, "Have we lost Jesus?" That hit home. Do we even notice that He is missing? If we ask the questions, "Do we have peace? Or are we anxious? Are we living a productive life? Do we have joy? If we can answer those questions we will get a good idea.
Let us not only find Him but fellowship with Him and never lose sight of His guiding leading directing and protecting us or the peace, joy and contentment He brings while we practicing being in His presence. For being in the presence of the Lord brings fullness of joy.
He finished his sermon by saying that we need to practice Corinthians 1:9 our first calling, having fellowship with the Lord, everyday and throughout the day so we do not ever lose sight of Him. What a great message.
God bless you this Christmas season and throughout the New Year as you practicing being in His presence and not losing sight of Him for a moment.
In His presence,

Count Your Blessings
After reading "Rekindled By Fire" an account of Brian Bidwell who worked at the Pentagon and was there when the plane hit on 9/11. His story is a miraculous one on the faith of he and his wife in the midst of such an enormous trial. One minute he was jogging 4 1/2 miles, the next he was struck down barley surviving and about to die.
The wonderful thing was his witness of how he knew it may be the end for him but he was ready to be with the Lord. He did not have fear but knew He had a Saviour that was waiting for Him, ready for Him and He was prepared to be with Him. What men and the enemy meant for evil, the Lord made out for good. He and his wife now have a powerful ministry as a result of the terrible tragedy.
When reading this book it gave me such peace to know that even in the darkest moments of our life in which the valley of the shadow of death is right there staring us in the face, we can have the perfect peace that passes all understanding. We can talk about our faith and witness to others about it, but it is when we go through those ultimately heart wrenching painful trials of life unto death that we are faced with the reality of just how confident our faith really is.
Here was a man in the midst of surviving day to day, moment to moment, not knowing which turn his life would take, but never unwavered from His faith or trust in the Lord. He was ready to surrender at any time leaving all behind for the sake of being with the Lord fearless and alone, He was ready.
That iswhat we all should strive to attain, that immovable hope, trust and faith in resting in the arms of our Saviour in the good times and the bad. During this Christmas time we must continue to give thanks for the gift of our Lord and the salvation He brought to us through His son so that we can live eternally with Him. He has defeated, death, Hell and the grave and we have life a new life with Him through all eternity not just on this earth but also the life to come.
Praise His Holy Name.

Trusting
It is not so big a word but a huge meaning. Trusting; firm reliance, to have confidence and faith in,to believe in. The person or thing in which confidence is placed in and in the one who has custody of them. One committed into the care of another. Reliance on something in the future, hope. To expect with assurance, assume. To believe , to entrust, to extend credit to. Maintained trust.
To have firm reliance is to depend on theassurance that the one who you trust will not let you down. To have confidence in the one you trust means to have faith in them. To believe in that person is to know that you never have to doubt. When you put confidence in someone and you know they have custody over you, you can rest assured that you will be taken care of with no worry or concern. When you commit yourself in the care of another, you are trusting them. When you have a future and a hope that you trust in and believe in, you can relax in the discomforts this world may bring. When you commit yourself in the care of another you know that you are in safe hands.
There is not one person on the face of this earth that can give you these assurances consistently over time. Maybe once in a while or now and then, or some of the time, but not all of the time. We can have the full assurance of trusting in our Lord because He cares for us. He actually commands that we trust in Him. He is a jealous God and if we put our trust in another no matter what it may be, He is quite aware of it and will teach His child the reason and purpose in trusting in Him.
Trust in Him. It is a promise that you will have blessings that will come your way and things will go well with you. Trusting in man, the flesh, brings disappointment and is only for the moment. Trust in the eternal, not the temporal, and you will have a peace that passes all understanding. You will cease striving and know that He is God and worthy to be trusted and is where all blessings lie.

Sleepless Nights
We all have nights where we wake up and just cannot get back to sleep. I have conistently been waking up at 2:00 and sometimes will go back to sleep, but other times just cannot. Those times that I just cannot get back to sleep, I have been getting up and assuming it is the Lord wakening me to spend extra time in prayer, the word, or worship or just listening to what He might have to say to me. I then go back to sleep and get a real sound sleep for another 4 hours.
It is evident that our Lord wants to spend time with us more than anything else. It is so easy for us to get busy in our day and not start our day with Him. I have found if for some reason that I do not get up early enough to have my quiet devotional time with Him, that is when I am awakened to make sure that I don't miss out being with the Lord, or He rather wakes me up to make sure I have that time with Him.
It is vital to keep a flowing interaction and conversation with our Lord. It is important that our steps are directed by Him and we are walking in His ways for our life. In Jeremiah 10:23, 24scripture states, "I know, O Lord that a man's way is not in himself. Nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps. 24 Correct me, O Lord, but with justice, not with Thine anger lest Thou bring me to nothing."
When He orders our day and our steps, we can be assured of order fullfillment and a purposeful life. When we direct them without His counsel, there is confusion, not enough time and it is like chasing the wind. Help me oh Lord to allow you to order my days.
Seeking to be in step with God and welcoming those sleepless nights.

Jeremiah 9:24 Boast In Knowing The Lord
It is a good idea, I find, to make a point to memorize scripture weekly. It seems to just penetrate to the heart. As food is nourishment to the body, scripture is nourishment to the soul.
This weekI ammemorizing Jeremiah 9:24, but let him whoboastsboast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises loving kindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things: declares the Lord. It bringsto mindwhat is important in the eyes of the Lord. If we truly desire to pleaseHim and have favor with Him we must first understand Him. If we seek to understand Him we willbegin to know Him.
By reading His word, studying His word, having alone time with Him, seeking everyday to see Him at work in all that we do, we begin to know and understand Him. There is nothing more valuable than to know and understand our creator; The One who designed us and has a definite purposefor our individual lives.
It is vital that we urgently desire to know and understand the Lord in order to live a meaningful, fruitful and abundant life here on earth. He wants to bless us, He intends to bless us, but we need to actively seek to know Him and understand Him.
To understand that he exercises loving kindness, justice and righteousnessis important. That clearly states that He so desires to be loving and kind to us. He is a just God and wants to see justice here on this earth and will bring it to pass however He chooses, for He is a just God and demands it. He exercises righteousness and desires that things be right and holy since He is a Holy God.
Being His children it is a responsibility of ours to desire to exercise righteousness on this earth to have favor with God and man. God, because He is deserving, and man so we can lead Him to the knowledge of the truth.
So let us all seek to know God, our creator who exercises loving-kindness, justice and righteousness.
Desiring to know Him more.

In His Perfect Will
Sometimes we like to micro-manage our time in such a way that every single detail needs to be just right in our days. Scripture states that a man can make plans but it is the Lord who brings it to pass. We can have the best intentions in organizing our day and making the most of our time, but it may not always be insink with what the Lord may have in mind for us. A constant surrendering it all to Him is something I have found I need to have a constant awareness of.
At times I feel that the job I have is maybe not the job that the Lord would have me do. Maybe He would have me be in the mission field if I would just surrender. But we need to acknowledge where we are planted and bloom where we are planted. Are we in a family, married, are we single. Do we have a job that allows us to travel? Is it ahealthy guilt that is causing us to want to stray from where we are planted, boredom, or are we just so content that it just doesn't seem right?
I have found that it appears that when I am in the Lord's perfect will there is unlimited energy. I am compelled to do and go beyond what seems to be humanly possible and when we are running on the Spirits energy and direction everything seems to be effortless.
I choose to bloom where I am planted and constantly be in the flow of the living waters that He provides for us that is not of this world. The more we are in the flow of His perfect will the more we are ignited with a touch of heaven. The grass is only greener on the other side if that is the side He chooses to put us onto grow flourish, serve and bloom.

The Lords Timing
It never ceases to amaze me the timing of the Lord and how He will always provide our needs for us. Sometimes our needs are our wants and it seems like He isn't answering our prayers, but He always hears us and I am finding that He does provide for us as we wait on Him and trust in Him to provide our needs according to His riches and glory in Christ Jesus and in His time.
I would just like to share another blessing, one of the many, the Lord provided for me this past week. I had mentioned before in one of my writings how my sister-in-law had sent me material forour curtains for the guest roomthat was the exact print that I had been wanting for a year. She being in Kentucky knew nothing about my desire for that material and by chance sent it to me from curtains she had up in her home with extra material.
Well, we have been needing a dresser for our bedroom guestroom that our 27 year old daughter has been staying in. She was here last year and her stuff has been in bins and when we have guests we would like to have a dresser to accommodate them.
Our daughter was away for a couple of months and coming back this past week.We had been looking around and on Craigs list as well, but couldn't seem to find the right price or size. My husband and I were at Ikea's a few weeks ago and found one but it was more than we wanted to spend at the time.
Last Saturday I quickly looked on Craig's list it was about 10:00 in the morning. I was running late and just browsed and said, "I don't want to spend more than $100 on the dresser and want it to be in good condition". I scanned the dresser list and sawone for $100 from Ikea's. The listing stated that it was brand new and $299 normally. I called and left a message and dashed out the door.
As soon as I arrived to my destination, on my motor scooter, which I could not hear the phone if it rang, as soon as I got off my scooter, the phone rang. I answered it. The lady said that she had 3 other people that called, but I was the first one so she was going to call me first.
Needless to say, we went and picked it up and it is the exact dresser we were looking at but a bit bigger which was even better. The timing of this was priceless to me. Wanting to get the dresser before my daughter came home, calling just at that moment,I was the first caller, I called her practically running out the door, her calling me right when I got off my scooter, the price.....coincidence. I don't choose to think so. It was too hand picked, right on time and absolutely another perfect gift from the Lord.
When we run out and get what we want when we want and do not wait for him, sometimes we lose out on the blessing He may have for us or waiting for Him to show His love for us in providing for us miraculously so that we know that we know that we know that it is directly from Him.
Thankfully His,

The Image of the Invisible God
In Colossians 1:15-18 the bible speaks of who Jesus is. The image of the invisible God and the firstborn of all creation. Also, how all things were created by Him and for Him. Just knowing this should give us all such a feeling of awe and reverence for our Lord. Just knowing this and believingit, I would think, would give one a sense of responsibility to live a life sold out on doing things for Jesus.
It seems that knowing that fact and believing it would mean we should pay close attention to just what it is that Jesus would want us to do.How would he want us to live. Jesus is the perfect example. What didHe do? How did He live?
All through scripture it speaks of how we were created to worship the Lord, put Him first, depend on Him for everything. Jesus goes on to explain in the gospels how if we look after those who are in the most need and care for them it is as though we are caring for Him, the poor, the helpless. He commands us to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, body, soul and mind and to love our neighbor as ourselves. He says not to merely look afterour own interests but also the interest of others. He also says count others as better than yourselves.
To start our day in worshipand prayer would seem most pleasing to our Lord. Asking Him to use us as a vessel to be used by Him to love, nurture and encourage othersthat day before we even begin. To be mindful of His leading and guidance and be willing to put others before us as he leads, are all vital ways in pleasing, serving Him and putting Him first. It is always much more blessed to give than receive when we are doing it for our Lord.
Putting Him first,
